Ernest Stanley Dunham

Dover - Ernest Stanley Dunham, 75, of 124 Dover Neck Road, died Saturday, May 26, 2007. Born May 7, 1932, in Lynn, MA, he was the son of Walter Hamilton and Greta (Johnson) Dunham. He attended Saugus Schools and was a member of the class of '49. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, Item Company, 1st Marine Division, 1951-52, in Korea. He was a member of the Marine Corps League.

Stan worked for New Notions in Boston,then as a carpenter in MA and NH, and as a real estate broker. He was elected tax assessor for the town of Rowley, MA.

Stan was a lifelong Republican and member of the Republican town committee. He held amateur radio license N1E0T, volunteered with the Mighty Seals swimmers in Dover, and with the UNH Marine docents. He enjoyed visits with family in Newfoundland, Canada, travel to Scotland and England, and a gratifying return trip to Korea.

Stan loved life and his family. He is survived by his three children, Donna Jenkins and husband, Greg, of Madbury, NH, Cheryl Dichard and husband, Peter, of Cary, NC, David Dunham and wife, Nancy, of Madbury, NH, and their mother, his former wife Emma (Williams) Horst, of N. Ft. Meyers, FL, five stepchildren, Heidi Sampson, Henry Hilgartner, Peter Hilgartner, Bruce Hilgartner, Lee Hilgartner and 14 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Georgia (Terriberry Hilgartner) and brother Walter H. Dunham, Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. at First Parish Church, Dover, NH. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
