Jane Hardy Obituary

Jane Elizabeth Hardy
Jane Elizabeth Hardy was born July 15, 1950 to the late Florence Raynor Howe Hardy and Lois Brainerd Hardy. She attended schools in Stratford where in high school, she was Junior Reporter to the Bridgeport Post, a delegate to the student council, and a member of the Junior Honor Society.
She graduated from Wheaton College, Norton MA, with a B. A. in government and a strong respect for the power of women: "I am woman hear me roar" was her sense of self. At Fairfield University she earned an M.A. in American Studies and Government. Her family and many others relied on her: "Don't worry, Jane will fix it."
She worked at Tucker, Anthony & R.L. Day, Inc. in Stamford, CT as Operation Manager and New Business Coordinator; at Cummings & Lockwood, Stamford, CT as Manager of Investment Operations; and at J. M. Lummis & Co., Inc., in New Canaan, CT as Money Market Specialist and Broker.
She was active in Children of the American Revolution and served as National President from 1971-1972. She loved children and nurtured in them a knowledge and love of country. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 56 years and from 1986-1989 she served as Chief Personal Page to the NSDAR President General.
In retirement, she served as Missioner of the Greater Bridgeport Deanery in the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut from 2001-2011. Cooperating with federal and state agencies, she dramatically increased the needy served by the feeding missions of five Episcopal churches in the Greater Bridgeport Deanery. She used her communication and computer skills to issue publications that gave clergy and laity new respect for the mission projects they completed. She passed the National Parliamentarian Association's qualifying test in August 1998 which meant meetings were well run and reported to members and, when needed, to governmental agencies. She was most interested in bringing together people from a variety of cultures, interests and backgrounds to enjoy and profit from well-coordinated and well-attended events.
Her faith and love of family and service defined her. It is said of Jane-Elizabeth that "she is the kindest woman I have ever known".
