Peter J. West

1968 - 2025

A devoted husband and accomplished entrepreneur, Peter passed peacefully from this world after a brief illness. He transitioned in the loving embrace of his husband and family in San Francisco.

Born and raised in Minnesota alongside his twin sister Becky and three older sisters, Peter moved to San Francisco in his early twenties. It was there that he met his husband and soulmate, Jeffrey Holt, at a bus stop on the 33 Muni Bus Line-an encounter that marked the beginning of a lifelong love story. They were married on July 11, 2008, at San Francisco City Hall, but their journey together spanned over 32 years, creating a bond that transcends time and space.

In 2012, Peter and Jeff co-founded HEWN, a beloved showroom in the San Francisco Design Center that specializes in hand-made home furnishings for the design trade. Peter's kindness, generosity, and compassion left an indelible mark on all who knew him. While his creativity and vision shaped the foundation of their showroom, his legacy extends far beyond his work-he cultivated a community built on care, respect, and a shared appreciation for craft and beauty.

Peter was a remarkable man, a loving soul, and a treasured friend. His absence leaves an irreplaceable void, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide us. He had a passion for attending concerts, always seeking the best seats-especially for Madonna or Beyoncé. A devoted family man and marvelous cook, he cherished caring for his loved ones, especially Jeff. Peter also had a deep love for his furry companions and was always eager to welcome new additions to the family.

Peter is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Marlene (Gagnon) West and Larry West; as well as his nephew Brady Rasmussen.

He is survived by his devoted husband, Jeffrey Holt; his twin sister Becky West (Bill Herwig); his sisters Patricia Rasmussen, Sherry Goodman (Bill), and Deb Weimelt (Mark); his sister-in-law Tracy Holt; and countless nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 6th from 5:30-7:30 at the San Francisco Design Center, 101 Henry Adams Street, San Francisco, CA 94103.
