Shirley Scott Obituary
SCOTT, Shirley H. Shirley Hancock Scott was born in New Britain on September 5,1921, to her parents Lillian Ramm Hancock and Howard Lee Hancock. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Hancock May and her brother Howard L. Hancock, Jr. She leaves her husband of fifty-eight years, Richard W. Scott M.D., her daughter Linda Lee Scott and son-in-law Caleb K. Harris, her son Richard W. Scott, Jr., and daughter-in-law Virginia D. Scott. Shirley is also survived by sisters-in-law Betty Schenk and Dorothy Hancock and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was a graduate of New Britain High School and received her RN degree from the Boston Children's Hospital School of Nursing. She served as the operating nurse for two pioneering pediatric surgeons, Professors William Ladd and Robert E. Gross. Shirley enjoyed many interests and activities. She excelled in decorating, stenciling, painting, sewing, knitting, gardening, and cooking. She was truly compassionate and a friend to all. A memorial service is planned for Friday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at First Church of Christ, 763 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA. Contributions may be made to Home and Community Health Services, Inc., 140 Hazard Avenue, Enfield, CT 06082.
