Barbara Ferguson

Barbara Ferguson, an amazing wife, mother and grandmother, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023, at the age of 84 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was a loving wife and dance partner to Bruce Ferguson. They were married for thirty-nine years in total happiness in retirement.

Barbara was born with a creative spirit. If she wasn't sewing clothes for her five children, you could find her painting, drawing, quilting or decorating a room in the house. While in her thirties, Barbara achieved an interior design degree at Harrington College of Design in Chicago, Illinois while raising her children.

Her house was different than any other house on the block, as she used her creativity to make any home completely unique. Barbara equally enjoyed entertaining and could manage to make anything delicious from the ingredients in her fridge or pantry. Something everyone looked forward to even when showing up unannounced.

Dancing and singing were also passions of hers. Both she and her husband Bruce even created a dance studio, their own personal ballroom in their home, where more of Barbara's creative talents were put to use in the ways of hand painting on the floors and walls. Definitely unique, Barbara's life wasn't always easy. She had worked hard her whole life and managed to in still good work ethics in her children. After meeting the love of her life, she inevitably lived a life anyone would envy.

Barbara will be missed, not only by her family, but a host of very close friends with who she shared many common interests.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Gustaff and Florence (Colby) VanDePutte; her husband Bruce Ferguson; one daughter, Catherine Lopes; one son, Jimmy Valentine; one brother, Charlie VanDePutte and one grandson, James Valentine.

Barbara is survived by her children, Rick Valentine (Maureen), Annette Freeman (David) and Todd Ferguson (Debbie), her grandchildren Danielle Perrin (Seth), Elizabeth John (Nick), Jennifer Cary (Justin), Jake Freeman, one brother Francis Van De Putte and great-grandchildren, Lucas and Wade.

Arrangements are by Conner Family Funeral Home & Cremation Center. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home with Fr. Norbert Rappold officiating.
