Jane Eleanor Baker Daughenbaugh, 88

SEAFORD - Jane Eleanor Baker Daughenbaugh, of Seaford, passed away in her residence on Saturday, March 7, 2009. She was 88. She was born on July 28, 1920, in Monrovia, Calif., the daughter of the late John Floyd Baker and Helen Harriet Welch Baker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, George Leonard Daughenbaugh Jr. Jane earned her associates degree from Los Angeles City College. She served as a Navy WAVE during World War II in San Diego as a Aviation Machinist Mate. She was a member of Atlanta Road Alliance Church in Seaford, the Gideons International Auxiliary, and was a charter member of the Women's War Memorial in Washington, D.C. Jane was also a member of the Jamestown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Jamestown, N.Y., for 40 years. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Jane Price of Cordova, Md., Dr. Betty J. Daughenbaugh and Patricia Ann Daughenbaugh both of Seaford; two grandchildren, Jennifer Price of Pontault-Combault, France and Laurinda Price Tapper of Rapid City, S.D.; and a brother, William Baker of Prescott, Ariz. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Virginia Fitzgerald, John Robert Baker, and Dorothy Cox. A memorial service was held on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Atlanta Road Alliance Church in Seaford. In the liberal giving of herself, she donated her body to the Maryland State Anatomy Board and inurnment will take place at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
