Doris Strube Obituary

Doris Strube
Doris E. Strube, nee Laquet, 84, of Belleville, Ill., born July 2, 1923, in Shiloh, Ill., passed away on Friday, June 6, 2008, at Freeburg Care Center.
Mrs. Strube was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., and VFW Post 1739 Auxiliary. As a young adult she had been employed at the Belleville Shoe Factory.
Doris was a very thoughtful, caring person. She was gifted as a great conversationalist, never knowing a stranger. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a love of animals, the outdoors, especially flowers and gardening.
She and her husband, Marcel enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques, they had operated a small shop in their home for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcel G. Strube, whom she married on July 29, 1947, in Belleville, Ill., and who passed away on Aug. 16, 1997; her parents, Conrad Laquet and Mary, nee Winkeler, Laquet; her sister, Vernice Kniepkamp, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Surviving are her children, Mark J. (Michelle) Strube of Shiloh, Ill., Randy L. (Marlys) Strube of Dubuque, Iowa, and Christie (Steve) Zimmermann of Belleville, Ill.; her grandchildren, Katie (Rex) Remington, Melissa Zimmermann, Thomas and Tara Strube; and a great-grandson, Cooper Marcel Remington.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, with Fr. David Darin and Fr. Omar Maurer officiating. Interment will follow in Green Mount Catholic Cemetery in Belleville, Ill.
