Belleville, Illinois - Shirley A. Holcomb, nee Sauer, 91, of Belleville, IL, born September 5, 1931, in Belleville, IL, died August 24, 2023, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Shirley had worked as a receptionist at a dental office before retirement. She was a member of St. Matthew Church, Belleville, IL and had been a volunteer at St. Paul's Senior Community for 30 years. Shirley loved to garden, sew, and visit friends and family. She often brought along a favorite dish or dessert for them to enjoy.
She was preceded in death by a two sons, Jeffrey Holcomb and Dennis Holcomb; her parents, Eugene and Helen, nee Mohr, Sauer Dahm; and a sister, Evelyn Oesterle.
Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca (Bernie) Taylor; 3 grandchildren, Holly (Kevin) Redemann, Stephen (Laura) Mosher, and Terrence (Yuliza) Mosher; great-grandchildren; Alyssa Redemann, Daniel Mosher, and Emily Mosher; and two nephews, Kevin (Jean Ellen) Oesterle and Keith (Carolyn) Oesterle.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Senior Community, Belleville, IL. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2023, at St. Matthew Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2023, at St. Matthew Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Bob Swickard officiating.
Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

Shirley was such a sweet and good friend! I am shocked at her passing since I seen her a few weeks ago. I praise God that she is now in her heavenly home, such a thoughtful Christian lady. Shirley and I met several years ago when she raised my Yorker, Betsy. I will miss her precious Christmas cards that illustrated her drawing and pic. My prayers go out to family... she left many wonderful memories!

Shirley was a wonderful person who I looked upon as an older sister. A good listener who was generous in many ways. She is now with her two sons. Rest in peace. Love Mike and Betty Sterling Creve Coeur MO.
