James Campbell Obituary

James Robert (Bob) Campbell was born March 19, 1953, in Sedalia, Missouri, the first child of James Warren and Ida Mae (Grace) Campbell. Bob was raised on the Campbell Family Farm in Fristoe until he was 6 when the family moved to Cross Timbers.
Bob attended Skyline Elementary School until the seventh grade when the family moved to Edwards. Bob attended Warsaw High School where he excelled as the point guard for the Wildcat basketball team. He was selected to the All Conference and All District teams. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1971. In 1974, Bob married his high school sweetheart Anita Arnett. Unto this union five children were born: Amber Blondean, Amanda Mae, Abegail Arnett, Audrey Jewell and Harrison Warren.
Bob attended Southwest Missouri State University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Bob graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 1976 with a degree in physical education, health and driver's education. After completing his student teaching at Cole Camp High School he taught driver's education for the spring semester. He then taught physical education grades kindergarten through seniors at Climax Springs High School. In 1978, Bob became the elementary physical education teacher for Warsaw North and South Schools. He taught for the Warsaw district for 30 years. In addition to teaching, Bob coached fifth and sixth grade boys' and girls' basketball for many years and won more Warsaw Lion's Club tournaments than any other coach. He also coached junior high football, track, and high school girls' softball. Bob also volunteered as a little league baseball coach and summer league girls' softball coach. As a volunteer for Warsaw Jubilee Days, Bob was in charge of the children's games on Main Street as well as the turtle race for many years.
Bob along with his wife Anita Campbell received the 2011 Academic Service Award presented by the Warsaw Area Chamber of Commerce and the Warsaw R-9 School District.
In 2018 Bob was inducted into the Warsaw Sports Hall of Fame for his contribution not only as a player but also as a physical education teacher and coach.
After retiring from the Warsaw School District, Bob worked on the family farms in Edwards, Fristoe and Warsaw. He worked with his father as long as his father stayed on the farm then he continued the tradition with the help of his children. He raised Angus cattle and filled the freezers of his children and family with beef.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife Anita of the home as well as his five children: Dr. Amber B. Campbell and her husband Gary Roberts of Warsaw; Amanda M. Adler and her husband Stan Adler of Warsaw; Abegail A. Jeremic and her husband Denny Jeremic of Torrance, California; Audrey J. Morrison and her husband Rob Morrison of Overland Park, Kansas; and Harrison W. Campbell and his wife Brittany Campbell of Pleasant Hill.
Bob is also survived by his ten outstanding grandchildren: Quintin Campbell, Amelia Roberts, Brodie Campbell, Connor Roberts, Henry Adler, Alexandra Jeremic, Grant Morrison, Isabelle Jeremic, Clara Adler, and Anna Morrison.
Other survivors include his brother John Campbell (Judy) of Raymore, his sister Carolyn Findley (Gary) of Warsaw, and his brother-in-law Hadley Arnett (Kathy).
Memorial services for Bob (Coach) Campbell will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw on Saturday, September 16 at 2 pm. Family visitation will be held in the Warsaw North Elementary gym on Thursday, September 14 from 6 until 9 pm.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers include his sons-in-law, his brother-in-law and his nephew.
In memory of Bob Campbell, the family suggests donations to the Coach Campbell Athletic Scholarship fund to go to a WHS athlete. The family would also like for those attending the memorial service to wear Wildcat shirts. Coach lived in green and black.
