Mary Corcoran Obituary
1920 - 2016 LENOX DALE Mary M. Corcoran, 95, of 10 Brown St., died Sunday, January 31st at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. She was born in Lenox Dale on August 11, 1920 the daughter of George W. and Margaret M. McCabe Brown. She was educated in the Lenox Schools and was graduated in 1936 from Lenox High School and in 1939 from Bay Path Institute in Springfield. She was employed at the former Smith Paper Co. in Lee from 1939 until resigning in 1946 as a supervisor in the Payroll Department. Later, she rejoined the workforce with the U.S.P.S. from 1974 until 1986 retiring as Postmaster of Lenox Dale. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Vincent dePaul Church in Lenox Dale where she had been a member of the Altar Guild, the Parish Council and Choir Director. She served as Parish Administrator at St. Vincent dePaul from 1952 through 2015. She had been a member the McCarnell Post 274 American Legion Auxiliary in Lenox Dale and a member and Grand Regent of Court 1753 of the Catholic Daughters of America in Lenox. Her husband, William J. Corcoran whom she married January 13, 1945 died December 29, 1997. Mary leaves her son, William and his wife, Christine of Lenox Dale with whom she made her home. She also leaves 13 beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, William J., Thomas J., and Henry F. Brown and her sisters, Anne M. Brown, Elizabeth F. Knight, Catherine A. Reynolds and Helen M. Hurley. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Mary M. Corcoran will be held Wednesday morning Feb. 3rd at 9:15a.m. from her late home at 10 Brown St. in Lenox Dale, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10a.m. at St. Vincent dePaul Church with Msgr. John J. Bonzagni pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery in Lenox. The family will receive friends at her late home on Tuesday, Feb. 2nd from 2 to 7p.m. Those wishing may make donations to St Vincent dePaul Capital Campaign in care of the Kelly Funeral Home at 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Mary Corcoran was one of the Finest people that I had the privilege of shepherding in my 55 years of priestood. Mary had a deep Faith commitment to her beloved Church, St. Vincent de Paul,her late husband Bill,her son William and his wife with whom she lived, her beloved "DALE" and all the people that she 'shepherded' in her 95 years of life. Mary had a great gift, to be able to know & share with so many people, in her different roles in the 'DALE'. I will remember her in each Mass that I am privileged to celebrate for the rest of my years as a Priest. Mary was a special lady who has been called "home" by another 'Mary'to receive the crown of Eternal Life in the Kingdom where we will be with her once more, never having to leave her again! Mary, Rest in Peace.You earned it!
