Nina Meacham Obituary

Nina Sheean Sadlowski Meacham 1919 - 2009 PITTSFIELD Nina Sheean Sadlowski Meacham, formerly of Epoch at Melbourne, died Aug. 31, 2009, at Providence Care Nursing Center of Lenox. Born Oct. 20, 1919, in Becket, daughter of Leon and Helen Sheean, she graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1940 and later graduated from Westfield Commercial College. She was a receptionist and executive secretary at Beloit-Jones Corporation in Dalton for 22 years. As a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Pittsfield, she was a representative to the Washington National Cathedral, and also an officer in the Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband of 36 years, Bernard J. Sadlowski, a longtime GE Naval Ordnance employee, died in 1977. In 1979, she married Karl P. Meacham, owner of Meacham Pump and Equipment Co. in Springfield, and moved to West Warren, Mass. While residing in West Warren, she was active in volunteer work for the Federated Church of Warren as President of the Women's Club of the Church Auxiliary, and President of the Massachusetts Federation of Professional Womens Club 14th District. Her husband, Karl P. Meacham died in 2002 and she returned to Pittsfield, in 2005. She leaves a daughter, Linda and her husband, David Mungo, of Dalton; and a daughter, Karen, and her husband, Paul Schubert, of Westford; two grandchildren, Kristin Schubert, PhD candidate at the University of Groningren, the Netherlands, and Alyssa Schubert Dijkstra, and her husband, Dr. Peter Dijkstra of Austin, Texas. Her brother, Allen Sheean died in 1961. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Rev. Harry G. Schortmann, Jr of Holliston, MA officiated at the graveside service.
