William I. Ostrander Sr.

1927 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Mr. William I. Ostrander Sr., 88, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015. Born in Pittsfield on August 13, 1927 the son of Frank L. and Gertrude Brockway Ostrander, he attended Pittsfield Schools. Mr. Ostrander was a 10 year US Navy veteran, serving in WWII, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He later served 30 years in the Navy Seabees reserves. He worked for the City of Pittsfield, Department of Public Works for 30 years. He loved fishing and in his later years, metal detecting. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan and also enjoyed watching golf. Mr. Ostrander is survived by his two daughters, Lori Cote and Julie Shea both of Pittsfield; his former wife, Carol McLaughlin; six grandchildren, Erin Landquist, Nicole Walsh, Kelly Cote, Michael, Ashley and Jeremy Shea; two great-grandchildren to whom he was "Grandpa the Great", Molly and Guinevere and six siblings, Robert, James, Flora, Elizabeth, Winnie and Gertie. He was predeceased by a son, William I. Ostrander Jr., who passed away on July 16, 2011 and two brothers, Frank and Hank. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. William I. Ostrander Sr. will be Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with the Rev. Peter M. Naranjo II, Parochial Vicar at Sacred Heart Church, officiating. Burial with full Military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
