Kyle was born in Utah on Sept. 14, 1978, in Ogden, Utah, to John Stephen Caten and Jennifer (Caten) Kelly. He passed away in Boise, Idaho, on March 14, 2015.
Kyle attended elementary school in Cody, Wyo., and moved to Billings where he attended St. Francis Upper School and graduated from Billings Central Catholic High School in 1997. During his time at Billings Central, he enjoyed playing basketball and football and was a Class A All-Eastern conference cornerback his senior year. Following graduation, he attended Montana State University in Bozeman for one year prior to joining the United States Army Infantry. He was promoted throughout his time in the Army, eventually achieving the rank of Specialist 5th Class by the time he was honorably discharged from the Army in 2002. After leaving the military, Kyle worked in the construction industry in both Billings and Bozeman, helping to build the new baseball stadium in Billings, Dehler Park. He returned to college, graduating from Montana State University Billings with a degree in Accounting in December 2013. He promptly moved to Boise after taking a job as a tax auditor for the State of Idaho.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Jennifer and Thomas Kelly; older sister, Nikki Caten; younger brother Alex and sister-in-law Scottie Caten; his grandparents, Ray and Georgia Safford; and many more individuals that had the opportunity to enjoy his kind heart, helping hand, and big smile.
