OVID, Colo. - Manuel Francisco Hernandez, "Kiko," 31, originally of Belfry, Mont., currently of Ovid, Colo., passed away on Dec. 19, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. in a motor vehicle accident.
"Colorado State Patrol received a call about the collision at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, about four miles north of Holyoke on Highway 385. At about that time, Kiko Hernandez and Wesley Prottsman were traveling south on Highway 385 in a 1999 Chevy pickup. There was very poor visibility due to high winds and blowing snow, according to the CSP report. The two were traveling in the northbound lane, as a 1999 International semi-truck was traveling north. The semi collided with the pickup front to front and both vehicles went off the west side of the roadway."
Kiko was born in Powell, Wyo., on June 26, 1981, to Manuel and Nelda Hernandez. Kiko graduated from Belfry High School in the year 2000. He lived in Ovid, Colo., and worked as a Harvester, Roofer and supervised the Family Scrap Metal business, Hernandez Scrap Iron.
Kiko was a lover of life, family, all Chevys and John Deer, old or new especially old, his animals, and much more. His enthusiasm for life was untouchable and he always had a smile and a ready hand to help anyone that crossed his path. Family was Kiko's number one priority. Always taking pride in seeing them do better for themselves or others from fast cars to fast women, he lived life by the moment and took pride in everything he
did from working hard to playing harder, telling stories about fun times or the hunting and fishing adventures that would bring you into the moment. He will always be missed by the ones he shared the memories with not just memories, adventures and good times. Kiko, you will never be forgotten, always missed and forever loved, there is not enough time, words or space to describe the man you were. "Love you bro."
Kiko is missed, loved and survived by his father, Manuel E. Hernandez; mother, Nelda Hernandez; sister, Chandra Owen; brother, Scott Alan Blanton; grandfather, Pancho Francisco Hernandez; nieces and nephews, Amber Hernandez, Luis "Chuck" Hernandez Jr., Tony Hernandez, Adam Owen and families; great-nieces and nephews, Karma Kramer, Isabella Hernandez and Baby Girl Hernandez, T.J.
