HALLIDAY -- Bertha Pauline Ledin, 87, Halliday, died Oct. 21, 1998, in the Beulah nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Halliday, with the Rev. David Suelzle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, six miles north of Dodge.
Visitation will be from 7-9 tonight at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.
Bertha, the eldest daughter of Henry and Wilhelmina (Kind) Messmer was born Nov. 7, 1910, northeast of Halliday, where she grew up and attended Halliday Public Schools. She married Gust Meissel and together they farmed south of Dodge and north of Halliday until Gust passed away in 1950. Bertha later married Art Ledin in 1954. They farmed south of Halliday before moving to town in 1956. Bertha has lived in Halliday ever since. She was employed by Halliday Public School and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Halliday Senior Citizens, Pioneer Homemakers, and various other church and civic organizations.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Gerald Bauman, Golden Valley; three sons, Arvid Ledin, Hudson, Wis., Gary Ledin, Prior Lake, Minn., and Richard "Duane" Ledin, Grand Junction, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Rhonda Morast and her husband Dallas, Shary Smith and her husband, Lyle, Suzanne, Wade, Nicole, Branden and Kurt Ledin, Lori McGranahan and her husband, Rodney; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Messmer; and five sisters, Emma Witt, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Lydia Weisenburger and Ella Bohrer, both of Stanley, Clara Tanfield, Boise, Idaho, and Christine, Allyn, Wash.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Gust Meissel and Art Ledin; five brothers, Reinhold, John, Edward, Leonard and Albert; and one sister, Amelia.
