Betty Cullen Obituary

Betty Cullen, 74, Carson City, Nev., died unexpectedly Jan. 29, 2005, at her home due to a long-term cardiovascular problem. Services will be held at 3 p.m. PST today, Feb. 5, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Carson City.

Betty was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Volga, S.D. After graduating in 1948 from Washington Senior High in Sioux Falls, S.D., she married Lloyd (Bud) Cullen of Sioux Falls in February 1949.

Betty lived in Germany for three years with Bud while he was serving there in the U.S. Army. Their only child, Lance, was born there in 1950. After Bud's discharge from the Army in 1953, they settled in Sioux Falls. Over the years, she worked as a secretary. She lived there until 1966, at which time the family moved to Mandan.

In 1968, they moved to Bismarck. She worked as a secretary for the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, until her retirement in 1987.

In 1989, Betty and Bud moved to Carson City to be closer to their son and his family.

For many years, she worked as a leasing consultant for the Carson-Catalina Apartments.

Her husband, Bud, died in February 2003.

She is survived by her son, Lance and his wife, Christine; and her grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kelley, all of Reno, Nev. (Fitzhenry's Funeral Home, Carson City)
