Donald A. Ressler, 82, Mandan, passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Mandan.
Donald was born Oct. 31, 1935, in rural Morton County, to Chris and Mary (Leingang) Ressler. He was raised and educated in Mandan. On June 3, 1960, he married Filina Harrison in Bismarck. He loved the outdoors and farm life. His passion was making country style sausage. He was known as one who always was helping others. Donald worked for the ND Department of Transportation for over 30 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Sally (Norman) Frederick, Mandan; step-daughter, Isabel Parker, Mandan; sister, Gloria Stein, Bismarck; two grandchildren, Devin and Nigel Frederick; and many nieces and nephews including Dennis Ressler and Bill Ressler who went above and beyond in spending time with Don and helping him in his needs in his later years.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Robert Ressler; and sister, Carla Ressler.
