RICHARDTON -- Gertrude Koller, 92, Richardton, died Aug. 16, 1999 in a Richardton care center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. MDT Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Claude Seeberger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation begins after 5:30 p.m. today at the church. A wake service and rosary will be said at 7:30 tonight.
Gertrude was born on Feb. 21, 1907, in the St. Joseph and rural Glen Ullin area. She was raised and educated in the St. Joseph area of Grant County. She helped out on the family farm.
On Jan. 22, 1929, she married John Koller at St. Joseph Church. Following their marriage, they farmed in Grant and Morton counties until they retired and moved into Glen Ullin in 1974. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before John died on Oct. 19, 1992. Gertrude resided in Glen Ullin until she entered the Richardton Health Center in June of 1993.
She is survived by two sons, John M. and Miriam, Great Neck, N.Y., and Michael and Beverly, Glen Ullin; eight daughters, Dolores Koller, Bismarck, Clara Miller, Bismarck, Laurentia Chamblee, Homer, Alaska, Sister M. Annuntia MSC, Reading, Penn., Ann and Paul Schaff, Mandan, Mary and Ned Chandler, Plentywood, Mont., Lucy Koller, Minneapolis, and Irene and Christopher Rudy, Fort Huron, Mich.; 35 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, John Wetzstein, Richardton.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Lawrence and Martin; one daughter, Mary Ann; four brothers, six sisters and two sons-in-law, Bill Miller and Marion Chamblee; and two grandchildren. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin-Hebron)
