Clifford "Jim" Fox

1943 - 2016

Clifford "Jim" Fox, 73, left this world on Friday, July 1, 2016. He was born on April 1, 1943 in Verdunville, WV to the late Lewis E. and Myrtle Rose Chandler Fox. He was also preceded in death by nine brothers and five sisters.
He attended elementary and high school in Ottawa, WV, graduating in 1962. He served in the US Marines from July 1962 until September 1966, with two tours in Vietnam. He transferred to the US Marine Corps Reserve, serving until March 1968, and leaving with the rank of Sergeant.
He lived in central CA, WA, SD, and ND, where he worked as a loan officer while raising his children. In 1980 he started a new career as an over the road truck driver, retiring in 2007. He and Pat then moved to NC.
Some of his hobbies were golfing, bowling, fishing, meeting up with a bunch of friends every morning for breakfast and jokes, playing penny ante poker with another group of friends every week, playing pinochle, and other games with adults and grandkids, entertaining with his multitude of jokes. He was also an avid gun collector, and loved to travel and go on cruises. He also loved to play his guitar and sing. We can see him sitting with his guitar, singing and telling jokes to all the angels.
Jim loved all the little people that he would encounter, always calling them "Curly" even if they were so young that they were nearly hairless and/or had no curls.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; sons, James, Erik (Shelly), and Mark fox; four step-children, Stuart (Caroline), Wade, Shawn (Jen), and Alicia Kordonowy; seven grandsons, and four step-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be at 10 am Friday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Blackwell will officiate.
