My friend Art, many wonderful memories of fly fishing in Maine, Canada and Deerfield Massachusetts. We could fish for hours and laugh and tell stories you were my good bud, friend, mentor and great company all the time. Always looked forward to our time together. That fishing pole was never far from your grasp. Oh, the time you fell in the Rangeley river with your weighters on that was certainly a cold dip in the river but we laughed and made a great memory. Next fishing trip will be in your honor my friend. You will never be far from the next big one... Frank Matley

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Holmes (Artie). I was a teacher and friend of his at Shawsheen for twenty years. We were neighboring shops. Many wonderful conversations about family and fishing. He was absolutely loved by all of his students. He had such soothing way about him, always offering positive advice and direction to them. He was also loved and especially respected by his peers. A beautiful man who helped so many. May he rest in peace. I will always remember him.

A man who will forever live in my heart as someone who expressed great dedication and care to all of his students. His patience, kindness and humor extended to everyone about him. He was a blessing to have as a teacher and support throughout high school years; our Graphic Arts family wouldn't have been the same without him. He is truly loved and missed. My condolences to his family and dear friends.

Mr. Holmes/Homie made such an impact on my life and I always think back to my high school years with such fond memories of him. He had his handful with some of us, but always protected us and had our backs. I still get together with some of the "graphics crew" and we laugh and share stories of the times we had. Mr. Holmes was such an incredible teacher and I know so many of his past students feel the same. My deepest condolences to his family, please know how much he will be missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Mr. Holmes was one of my most favorite teachers in all my school years. I have so many great memories of Graphic Arts. We not only enjoyed him in school but we came back to visit him with coffee years after graduating. Mr. Holmes wasn't just a Graphics teacher he was Graphic Arts at Shawsheen Tech. He loved us even when we drove him crazy. His laughter will stay with me in my heart forever. I'm so very sad to say goodbye and I will miss you my friend "Holmey"

Homie was and forever will be my favorite person from the Tech. Mr. Holmes not only taught me about graphic arts and maneuvering through all of the crazy that is high school, but he also guided and encouraged me in all of my decisions after graduating and I can still hear him asking "What are you doing with your life kid?"
Homie was able to put up with all of the shenanigans that high schoolers (and those that have recently graduated) do. Thinking about what he would do to protect all of his kids makes me miss him even more.
Since meeting Homie I haven't been able to look at "homie candies" without calling them just that and thinking about him.
Arthur Holmes thanks for all you did for me and the countless others who were able to call you their teacher, mentor, and friend. I hope you are sitting on a boat somewhere working on catching your next big fish.

What a great honor it was to have known such a great man and to have been not only taught by him but mentored as well. He got me through some very tough times and I'll forever hold a special place for this very special soul. I send my deepest condolences to his family and I know that he was loved by you all but I hope you all know he was loved by so many others as well.

I was very surprised to hear of Arthur's passing. A couple of my children along with my x-husband and myself, were so very fortunate to know the man as a teacher, a mentor and a friend. There will never be enough words to thank him for the amazing way he treated everyone around him, and the way his students admired him. To this day I chuckle every time I see a starlight mint candy as he kept a jar full on his desk and the students lovingly referred to them as " Holmey Candy" he was after all their home man. My deepest sympathy goes out to his entire family. You may be gone Arthur but you will never be firgotten.
