Cornelius Owens Obituary

Of Atlanta, Georgia, Monday, November 14, 2005. He was 92 years of age, born in Boston, he was a graduate of Boston College. After graduation, he joined the Bell System where he held various positions, including President of New York Tel. & Tel., until being named Executive Vice President of AT & T Co. in 1970. Husband of Mia Hecht Morgan of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his first wife Bernice A. Haley, his brother, the former Acting Senate Counsel of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, David M. Owens, and his sisters Katherine Owens and Eileen Doherty. In addition to his wife of 33 years, Mia Hecht Morgan Owens, Mr. Owens is survived by three nieces, Anne Hancock and Jane Rodophele of Acton, MA and Eileen Doherty of Alexandria, VA, four grand nieces and nephews, Jillian and Emily Hancock, and Kate and Henry Rodophele of Acton, his step-sons Robert and George Morgan of Atlanta, GA, and Stephen Morgan of New York, NY, and his three step-grandchildren, Candace, George, and Mia Catherine Morgan. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 18th at 10AM in the St. Ignatius of Loyola, Chestnut Hill. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Burial to follow at Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made either to Boston College or to the charity of your choice. Boston Harborside Home Boston, MA (617) 536-4110
