I had the privilege of welcoming David to our practice at Harvard Community Health Plan in Wellesley. He will be remembered by all of us for his practical knowledge, vast clinical experience, strong patient advocacy, collegial warmth, and keen sense of humor. He was a beloved member of our practice and made us all better physicians for his presence. Like all my former colleagues, I am deeply saddened by his loss.

David was my introduction to medical practice in Massachusetts, and a finer, more compassionate role model I could never have. His patients waited often to see him, but never complained of "getting short shrift".
We have been in touch only occasionally since my shift to Emergency Medicine, but I will always remember his kindness, his warmth and lessons in patient care that I learned from him. I only wish I had known he was ill, to at least have been able to say goodbye in person.

We remember David especially from our HILR trip to Greece. Although it presented many obstacles David was determined to experience as much of it as he could, thanks to Judith's unstinting support. David also provided an excellent role model for new HILR members. He was a person to whom the overworked word "inspiring" truly applied. We are grateful that he crossed our paths.

David was such a wonderful presence in the Arlington Belmont Chorale. And he was so loving whenever we spoke. He was always willing to listen and he had the gift of listening with great compassion. His wisdom was such a comfort to me when my mother was ill and dying. Lately, I had been thinking of him and missing him and intended to call to see if we could get together for lunch. I had no idea he was sick. I will miss him very much and I send my deepest sympathy to all those close to him. He was a very special person.

Darn! Wish we could be half ... no, we'd settle for ten percent ... of the person he was . We're grateful that whoever's in charge of the universe gave us fhe opportunity to know him.

David will be very much missed. We thoroughly enjoyed socializing and learning with him at the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement and were looking forward to another grand year at HILR.
Sincerely, Anne and Dan Keohane
