To the O'Connell Family,

John was the nothing short of amazing. He was an intelligent, loving, generous person that many were fortunate to know. He was everyones best friend. We were all very lucky to have known him, because he changed us all for the better. He was a brother, a best friend and giant piece of all our hearts. All of our thoughts and prayers are with you, and with John.

My family and I thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers. I want to share a poem that my sister wrote for John.

Ode to John

You were our brother, like no other

You were our first friend; we will miss you to the end.

You touched our lives in more ways than one

You knew how to live; you knew how to have fun

You had this twinkle in your eye

Now you’ll light the evening sky

We will never forget the way you were

With every day we’ll miss you more

God made you strong and very proud

Now you’ll watch us from your cloud

To think of you will make us cry

We’ll never know the answer why

You may be gone from our view

But, our love will always stay true

You mad us laugh, you made us cry

Now it’s time to say good-bye.

Dear Linda,

I was terribly saddened to hear of John's death: I can still see him with you and his sisters at the Play Co-op. Having recently lost both my parents, I share with you words from a friend which helped me focus: "God never slams shut a door without leaving a window cracked open." At times like this, it is the searching for the slightly ajar window that keeps one's focus. By the time you find the window, the sunshine and fresh air will, I'm sure, help you.

Hello to Kerry and Julie; our prayers are with you all!

Love,

All the Mahoneys
