Junius Beebe Obituary

Of Coconut Grove, Florida and Mill Village, Nova Scotia, Canada, passed away at his home on March 23, 2002 after a brief illness at age 78. He was born November 11, 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts to Junius Oliver Beebe and Rita Milliken Beebe. He graduated from Milton Academy, Milton, MA, Class of 1942 and Harvard University, Class of 1946. His studies at Harvard were interrupted during World War II while he served in the United States Army, landing in Normandy and participated in campaigns throughout Europe. A life-long sailor and yachtsman, he navigated trans-Atlantic Races, cruised the Mediterranean, the Atlantic Seacoast, the Pacific Northwest and extensively in the Bahamas. "Captain", as he was known by his many friends, was a member of the Eastern, Biscayne Bay and Coral Reef Yacht Clubs, the Royal Ocean Racing Club and was a member of the Cruising Club of America for more than forty years. Mr. Beebe is predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Nancy Trowbridge Beebe. He is survived by his wife Sheila Beebe of Coconut Grove, FL; his sister Nancy Beebe Spindler of Dedham, MA; his son Junius Beebe, III and his wife Susan A. Beebe of Marblehead, MA; daughter Holly Beebe Reynolds of York, ME; daughter Nancy Pamela Beebe Lombardi and her husband Stephen A. Lombardi of York, ME. He leaves 5 grandchildren, Derek Stephen Lombardi, Victoria Rita Beebe, Junius Oliver Beebe, III, Samuel Roberts Beebe and Calli Austin Lombardi; his stepchildren; Sage Buitron, Rusty Wallace, Amber Graham, Wyatt Wallace, all of Florida.
