KATE CARNEY

CARNEY, Kate Kate Carney, storyteller, actor, director, educator, and dear friend, died peacefully on May 10, 2023. Kate believed in the power of narrative to teach, inspire, and connect. A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Kate performed throughout the U.S. and abroad. She mentored aspiring performers at colleges, universities, and professional venues. As a storyteller, Kate performed in national and local storytelling events including First Night Boston and LANES (now NEST). She created a series "Heroic Women You Can Talk To" for school-aged children to interact with characters like the First Woman Doctor in the West and Paul Revere's Mother-in-Law to "hear, feel, and understand what it was like to live in another century." Kate was a active member of the First Unitarian Universalist Society in Newton. A Memorial Service will be held there, 1326 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02465, on June 30 at 11 AM.
