MARY ELIZABETH "BETTE" DUFF

DUFF, Mary Elizabeth "Bette" Long time resident of Belmont, MA, currently residing in Newburyport, MA, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016. Bette was the wife of the late Jim Duff of Belmont, and the mother of late son James Duff of Winchester. She is survived by her son Frank Duff of Georgetown, daughters Deb Avery of Newbury and Susan Kostro of Belmont, sons-in-law Paul Avery and Robert Kostro, daughters-in-law Melissa Duff and Rebecca Duff, grandchildren Sergey and Kat Avery, Julia Kostro, James and Mathew Duff, Melissa's son Jakes Korthas, sister Alice Johnson, and brother Jack Meagher. Bette was an avid student and teacher. She attended Bridgewater State Teaching College receiving an undergraduate degree and then attended Suffolk University receiving her MBA. She was always learning with interests ranging from auto repair, to upholstery, to cooking, to playing cards. She never stopped learning. Her teaching career spanned from working at Metropolitan State Hospital teaching Physical Education to her long time career at EDIC Boston Technical Center where she trained medical secretaries for 20 years. Bette had a spirit for adventure and love for travel, which led her to her career as a Stewardess with Eastern Airlines in her earlier years. She continued her adventures with her annual trips to Europe, China, Africa, and the Grand Canyon. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, NEWBURYPORT, MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home.
