PAUL JOSEPH MURPHY

MURPHY, Paul Joseph Lifelong resident of Cambridge, MA, age 90, died peacefully at home on December 4th, 2012. Survived by his devoted and loving wife of 58 years, Margaret (Flynn) originally from Newburgh, NY. Also survived by his eight children, Catherine Crockett and her husband Jon of Cupertino, CA, Anne Murphy Esparza of Cupertino, CA, Christine Murphy and her partner Richard Bliss of Newton, MA, Eileen Moynihan and her husband Brian of Kingston, MA, Erin Lamberti and her husband Robert, of Norwood, MA, Brian Murphy of Somerville, MA, Walter Murphy of New York, NY and Peter Murphy and his wife Yolanda of Madrid, Spain. Paul is also survived by his grandchildren, Teodoro, Daniel and Peter Esparza; Aidan and Caroline Crockett; Dylan Meehan; Owen, Rosalie and Russell Moynihan; Diego and Lorenzo Murphy and Jolene Lamberti, all of whom he was extremely proud, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters Eileen (Murphy) Roberts and her husband Cal of Annapolis, MD, Frances (Murphy) Epstine of Osterville, MA and brother Ralph Murphy, M.D. and his wife Margaret of Naples, FL. Preceded in death by his parents Francis and Mary Ann (McGlynn) Murphy, sisters Katherine Donovan, Mary Smith and brother Joseph Murphy, M.D. A U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, Paul received his bachelors degree from Saint Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont and a masters degree from Columbia University in New York City. He was employed by the Cambridge School Department for 32 years, initially at Rindge Technical School and later Cambridge Rindge and Latin School where he taught English and later worked as a guidance counselor. He was a life long parishioner of Saint Mary of the Annunciation. Visitation hours: Friday, December 7th from 4-7 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 305 Broadway, CAMBRIDGE, MA 02139. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 8th at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary of the Annunciation, 134 Norfolk Street, Cambridge, MA 02139. Private burial at Bourne National Veterans Cemetery.
