Dear Nancy,

When my mom, Arlene, told me of your mom's passing, I was saddened. I'm one of many distant cousins periferal to her life, but my parents often shared stories of their time with her. Each one made me smile with joy in reflection of her philanthropic generosity and intellect. My most recent personal memory recalls her coming to New Haven to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We met for brunch the morning after my parents party and her eyes sparkled with mental clarity even though her body was beginning to tire. We talked about her support of children's programming on PBS. All programs I've used to raise my children. It is a memory I'll enjoy recalling for the rest of my days. My thoughts and sypathies are with you.

As with my sisters, Toby and Ronna, I too have fond memories of Aunt Polly.

It was my pleasure to engage in one of those famous visits to the Weston house as an overnight guest. Where else might you find a swimming pool right in the middle of the house! How exciting for a pre-teen. What an exotic life. Horses too!

Always gracious, Polly was truly interested in you as an individual.

She was famous for her quiet support of causes, for the betterment of mankind, for things such as children's education, and was truly admired by those few who had a glimspe of these and other activities.

She was a great lady.

Dear Nancy:I heard yesterday from Aunt Gertrude Webb that Polly (as I always called her) had passed away.

I send my condolences to you , your husband Dick and your children.

I knew Polly well when my sister Ronna and I were very young as we used to be invited to her house where we would spend weekends with her and Ken and their Boxer Dog Candy and cat Pushkin. Polly was my mothers (Edith Michaels Brickman)

cousin. My sister Ronna and I always looked forward to these visits with your parents in the lovely house they had in, I think Newton. They had a beautiful garden and I can still see your father somehow smiling at us as he worked in his garden. And Polly, one day took us to Norumbega Park where we had a whale of a time on the rides while your mother, I think looked on in some consternation as she worried we might not be safe. ( I think we were only eight years old or so.) Also, Candy and Pushkin were our first introduction to a dog and cat in close proximity. We always enjoyed these visits tremendously. and although I was quite young when I left the United States from time to time I would meet up with Polly at family weddings and such.

I know she was a wonderful person--always very kind, warm and generous---qualities that t I am sure served her so well throughout her long life

She will be both missed by her loving family, relatives and the community in which she had so involved hereself.

Yours,

Sincerely

T oby

What a great lady. I loved helping her plan trips and hearing about them after. Also enjoyed many meals with Mrs. G. and Anne talking about E G and G, travel, the theatre etc.
