ROBERT DUDLEY Obituary

DUDLEY III, Robert Francis Age 64, of Canton, passed away at the Norwood Hospital on April 22, 2017. Born in Lowell and raised in Chelmsford where he attended public school, and graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1970. Bob was a member of the last graduating class of Lowell Technological Institute now UMass Lowell in 1974; he went on to earn his MBA from Suffolk University. Mr. Dudley started his business career working in the finance department for many companies including Johnson & Johnson and Data General. He was a talented business man and incredibly intelligent. Having worked as a CFO for other companies it was his dream to start his own consulting company. After he battled and survived cancer he did just that as the partner and CFO of Venture Advisors. His success grew rapidly and his clients loved him. Bob was a self-made man; his achievements were all his own having put himself through college and post graduate school; supporting his children's education was a priority, sacrificing to allow them to attend the best schools and colleges. He was also determined to give back to the academic community at UMass Lowell. He was a long time member of the Manning School of Business Advisory Board, an active supporter of River Hawk hockey, and an important advisor to two Deans. Bob was active with UMass Lowell in so many ways - with M2D2; Nano Manufacturing Center; the Entrepreneur program; and the Center for Irish Partnerships. In August of 2015, Bob and his wife Susanne established the Robert and Susanne Dudley Family Endowed Scholarship Fund, helping business school students with financial aid, a lasting legacy here on campus. There is a room in the Jack M. Wilson Center for Entrepreneurship in their name. Bob was a gifted singer and he was a proud member of the Dedham Chorale Society and the St. John the Evangelist Parish Choir in Canton, serving as a Tenor 1 in the choirs and as a soloist and cantor. He loved music and was an audiophile. The Dudley home was always happy because of him and full of joy and singing. He was a devoted husband and father and will be forever remembered and greatly missed. Beloved husband of Susanne (Barrett). Loving father of Alexandra, Robert IV and his wife Daria and Joseph Dudley, all of Canton. Devoted brother of Joye Demaris of Maine. Also survived by many in-laws, relatives and friends. Visiting hours in the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St., CANTON, on Thursday 4-8pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. The Funeral mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, 700 Washington St., Canton, on Friday morning at 10:30. Interment to follow at Canton Corner Cemetery. Flowers can be sent to the Dockray and Thomas Funeral Home or donations in Bob's memory can be made to the Robert and Susanne Dudley Family Endowed Scholarship Fund at UMass Lowell, Att: Steven Rogers, Senior Director of Development, UMass Lowell, One Perkins St., Lowell, MA 01854. I was one of Bob's many clients. He stepped in to my small company in the midst of the last recession, saved us from disaster in his first month, helped guide us through tough times, offered a huge amount of valuable advice and became a friend. I knew him in a professional capacity, I can only imagine how the loss of a great man like Bob must be to his family.
