Robert was a neighbor of mine when I was a little girl. We were born six months apart. I knew his parents well. This morning for no reason at all I decided to look for him. I am delighted to see he had such a beautiful life.

"Sonny" and I were "pinned" during my senior year in high school and his first year at Annapolis. I have so many fond memories of him and that time. He was a great guy!! My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

I served with Robert Sontheimer on the USS Von Steuben, SSBN-632, in the early 1980's. He was a good man and a good shipmate then. I'm proud to have been his shipmate and proud of his service to our country. I am truly sorry that I was not aware that we were neighbors again in New Hampshire. My sincere condolences to Robert's family for their loss.
May God bless his soul, and may he enjoy eternal peace, fair winds and following seas,
Robert E LaGassa
