Ethel Todd Obituary

TODD Ethel Sarah (McGaugh), 93, of Barnstable, MA passed away at Cape Cod Hospital on October 2, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 28, 1925 in Bear River, Prince Edward Island, Canada where she was raised and educated. She is predeceased by her husband Francis (Frank) of 67 years; sons William and Robert; grandson Matthew; her parents Roach and Marjorie McGaugh; and brothers Sterling (Buster), Eugene, and Colin. She was the loving mother to Marie P. McGaugh of PEI, Richard F. Todd and wife Ires of Yarmouth, Elizabeth A. Todd of Barnstable, Edward M. Todd of S. Yarmouth, Roberta C. Todd of Barnstable, and Kathleen M. Lee and husband Robert of Mashpee. Beloved grandmother to eight grandchildren: Michael and wife Sarah, Nicholas, Andrea, and Sean McEachern; Shannon, Meghan and Caitlin Lee; and Justin Todd. She also has six great grandchildren that she adored. Ethel is also survived by her sisters Bernice McInnis, Aileen Dwan, Frances Stewart, Noreen Kennedy, and Anne McDonald; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She always found comfort in her two pups Lilly and Tiger. At 18 years of age, Ethel immigrated to the United States from Prince Edward Island, where she worked as a nanny in New York. She then traveled to Boston to live with a family member. She married Frank in 1951 and raised her family in Roslindale, MA. Before moving to Cape Cod, she had worked as a model for designer wigs; Schrafft's Candy, and Boston Liberty Mutual Insurance. She volunteered in many organizations and was proud to be the president of the Boston Police Department's Wives Association. After moving to Barnstable, Ma she worked for the Barnstable School System until retirement. She had a love for church, travel, the beach, and mostly being involved in her children and grandchildren's lives. Her smile and warmth towards others, whether family, friends, or strangers always lit up the room. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, October 7th from 4pm-8pm at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main Street, Hyannis, MA. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Pine Street, Centerville, MA. For online condolences, please visit www.doanebealameshyannis.com.
