It was many years ago that I attended all 5 years of elementary at Longfellow! I have very good memories there, and remember what a wonderful man Mr. Meagher was! I got into some mischief in the 3rd grade and ended up on my way to his office and was petrified! The rumor was that he spanked the kids that got sent there with a big wooden paddle hanging on his wall! I was pleasantly surprised to find no paddle and got no spanking, but a stern talking to by a firm and kind man! I wish I had gotten in trouble years earlier, so I wouldn't have gone through those early years being intimidated by him! Longfellow was such a wonderful school; I will never forget how big those hallways seemed back then; though 15 years later when I brought my husband with me they seemed so small! I was amazed to find the paintings of Main Street that my class painted still on the walls in the stair way! And I was more than pleasantly suprised to find Mr. Meagher still walking the halls after hours...and guess what? He remembered me and the office visit from 3rd grade! He didn't however remember what I had done to get myself there! What an amazing and loving man! I will never forget him! I am so grateful that he was a part of my early life!

Mike, "Mr. Meagher", was a very kind, wonderful man. I am thankful both of my children had him as their principal at Longfellow elementary school. It was obvious how much he loved his job and cared about children. He knew when to be stern and when to laugh. The atmosphere at Longfellow reflected his style- encouraged learning in a safe environment. We are so sorry for your loss. The quote is beautiful. It says it all- glad he is with our Lord and has his health back. Bob & Karen Furu Eloy Arizona and West Yellowstone Montana

My name is Louis Antoine and Mike Meagher was my foster father through the MSU football team since 1984. I can't put into words what Mike and the Meagher family has meant to me and what he has done for me in my life since I was a young 19 year old transferring to MSU! I will try but will never be able to repay the love and support Mike provided me with and I can't ever thank him for all the times we spoke privately for his advice when I didn't even feel comfortable talking to my own Dad! He will never ever be forgotten as an integral part of my life and for helping me become the man I am now and the person I'm striving to be! This Earth has lost an amazing man!

Absolutely the kindest principal ever. I am a teacher of 16 years, and have yet to meet a principal as kind and caring as Mr. Meagher. He was my principal at Longfellow and always listened with genuine concern. We will miss you Mr. Meagher. Thanks for being such an important role model.

I remember how amazing I thought Longfellow was when I was in school, a big part of that love was Mr. Meagher. He had a bright smile and a caring personality with humor that could translate to kindergarteners as well as adults. I was fortunate enough to continue to see Mr. Meagher when my father would give him his hair cuts. Our prayers, thoughts and love are with Judy, their children and family.

"Mike Meagher was a super-wonderful principal! My daughters, Janet (Shawnae) and Nancy, liked having him! I worked for Gaylord Lasher in the Bozeman Schools Curriculum Office for 6 years and it was fun interacting with the principals. Mike was a favorite and I am sorry to hear that he has passed on. I will look forward to seeing him in Heaven!!!" :) Judy, you were a wonderful wife & teacher!

Kortni and Brodey have very fond memories of Longfellow School. Mike ran a very good ship! I remember lots of great smiles around there. Mike once spoke of the joy he felt while parents watched their young'uns on stage and how the "kindergartenders could do no wrong." RIP Mike and thank you for your inspiration and being a good and faithful servant to our Lord.

It was a sad day for me when I heard that Mike has passed away. He was a good friend and an inspiration to me in the way he lived his life. I enjoyed competing with him in biking, swimming, add especially golf. He was very competitive, but did let me win once in a while. He touched the lives of many people including mine. He was a great example and a good friend. He will be missed.

I was just a little bitty 1st grader when I met Mrs. Judy Meagher, my teacher at Whittier. She was one of the most influential teachers I ever had the privilege to be taught by! When I moving and was transferring to Longfellow at the end of 2nd grade, she assured me that it was going to be great, after all, her husband was the principal there! She was so very right and some of my fondest childhood memories included that school and the staff there. Mr. Meagher was a great man, and a great educator and I am so honored to have been touched in my educational life by both of them. Heartfelt prayers of peace, love and comfort godspeed.
