Frank Catania Obituary

Frank Catania
December 27, 1936 - February 2, 2022
Bradenton, Florida - Frank Catania, 86, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 2, 2022, at Tidewell Hospice House, surrounded by the comfort of his loved ones, caring staff and New York cheesecake.
He was born in New York to a Sicilian and Greek family and traveled extensively overseas in the Air Force. He resided in Philadelphia, Dallas, and settled down in Bradenton. A snowbird at heart, Frank couldn't resist the bright blue Atlantic Ocean, sunshine, and island cruise buffets.
A true Capricorn, he was a dedicated leader, but also equally fierce a lover. Frank was always loyal and caring to his customers, family and close friends. He was as much a savvy businessman as he was a charming ladies' man, and could never quite retire, from work or dating. When Frank wasn't dancing at the members-only Moose Lodge, he was learning how to charm the clientele with "buenos dias" and other Spanish greetings for his part-time holiday gig at Burlington Coat Factory.
Frank was also a devout Catholic, dog lover and tennis pro — you could often find him praying at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, walking his dog Souza around Park Acre Estates, and serving up aces to his buddies on the tennis court.
Frank is survived by his two daughters; Carey and Mary; step-son Nick; granddaughter, McKella; and grandsons; Rocco, Gabriel and Daniel.
He was an amazing father, grandfather, husband, friend, and a genuine, thoughtful person. "Frank the Tank" will always live on in our hearts.
The funeral service will be at St Joseph Catholic Church, 3100 26th St W, Bradenton, FL 34205, on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10AM followed by a private, local celebration of Frank with close friends and family.
