Mary Ann Dunlap
February 18, 1942 - May 15, 2023
Port Saint Lucie, Florida - Mary Ann Dunlap, 81, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, passed away on May 15, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Mary Ann was born on February 18, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Ambrose Brueggeman and Mary Read. Mary Ann graduated from St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing Saviho in Jacksonville, FL in 1963, earning her bachelor's degree. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 47 years, touching countless lives. Mary Ann married Joseph Flavian Mas in 1965, and together they had five children. After a Catholic annulment from the Diocese of Venice in FL to her first marriage, Mary Ann would marry the love of her life, Roy Dunlap in August of 1989.
Mary Ann lived in a beautiful historical home built in 1926 in Bradenton, FL for 52 years in which she and her husband, Roy would remodel with Mary Ann's design skills and Roy's masonry skills, brick by brick, stone by stone, drenched in love, blood, sweat, and tears. Remodeling this home in Mary Ann's own words was "fun!"
In 2017, Mary Ann made her Solemn Permanent Profession into the Franciscan Order. She lived a faithful life observing the gospel of Jesus Christ following the example of St. Francis of Assisi. Mary Ann had a heart for the hurting and poured out her life serving the Lord as a humble and faithful servant, loving God, and loving others, especially those in most need, the broken, and hurting.
Mary Ann was a faithful member of Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church in Bradenton, FL. for 36 years until they moved to Port St. Lucie, FL. in February of 2023 and became members of St. Lucie Catholic Church in Port Saint Lucie, FL.
Mary Ann made her neighborhood beautiful by spreading love to everyone around her and spending her spare time in her yard and garden, her favorite place to be, "playing in the mud" planting things with love and watching them grow. She was a gifted songwriter and composed many original songs with her husband, Roy. Working in her yard, writing songs, singing, and playing music were among her favorite things to do.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Ambrose and Mary Brueggeman; and her son, Ambrose Mas. Mary Ann is survived by her beloved husband, Roy Dunlap; her children; Gino Mas, Joseph Mas, Tony Mas, Loretta (Missy) Huntley; son-in-law, Jeff Huntley; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Mas; her grandchildren; Mystee Bradford, Alex Mas, Gracie Wardrup, Justin McKee, Julia Rose McKee; her siblings; Stella Orfant, Loretta DeAngelis, Dorothy (Bunny) Phelps; and countless other family members; and friends.
