Just did a quick search of Mr. Billings. Thought of him while successfully peeling a mandarin orange while leaving the peel totally intact. Ya, it's not an orange, like he challenged us to peel without ripping the peel in class in 1975/76 8th grade Earth Science. Am very sad to see he's passed and I didn't get to tell him in person that he was one of the best teachers, though he was probably told that many times by others. Earth Science could have been boring and forgettable, but, because of Mr. Billings' clear caring and connection with us students, I actually recall a lot of what he taught us, and, he'd probably get a chuckle out of this, I pull some of this information up in random conversations while driving and looking at scenery with my teenage daughter. Lol My geologist father-in-law seemed surprised and impressed at this knowledge, too. LOL
Rest in peace, Mr. Billings. You made a positive difference in many people's lives. God bless.

I had Mr. Billings for science for 7th and 8th grade. He always did the coolest experiments and was a structured, no nonsense teacher. Love his class. My deepest sympathies to his family in their time of loss.

My condolences to the Chet Billings family, Chet was a fine neighbor and a darn good "Old Fashioned" teacher. I know because he was both. I remember him telling me I didn't have to call him "Mister" any longer. Losing a loved one is never easy. . .prayers to you all.
