Lawrence Reeves Obituary

Lawrence Wayne Reeves passed away on December 15th, 2023 in Boulder, CO from complications resulting from Multiple Myeloma. He was 76. Born September 9th, 1947 to Lawrence Edison Reeves and Maxine McMillian Reeves in Independence, MO, Larry grew up in the city of his birth, graduating from Truman High School in Independence. Larry attended Bethany Nazarene College (Oklahoma City, OK), then worked his way into sales and a move to South Dakota. He sold for the clothing companies HD Lee and Levi Strauss. More importantly, he met the love of his life. On May 8th, 1977, Larry married Lorrie Wetrosky Reeves in Alcester, SD, and the couple began their life together. Hired by Grainger in 1986, relocating to Colorado in 1988, Larry worked for the company until his retirement on April 30th, 2018. In retirement, though, he found his real zeal: working in guest services, ushering in fans for the Colorado Rockies the last six seasons. A huge fan of both the Rockies and the Avalanche, Larry had followed both teams on radio and television for decades. To work at Coors Field was a dream come true. Larry's family recalls that they "were lucky to be the recipients of Larry's big heart and his acts of service. He loved God, his family, the Rockies, the Avs, even the Broncos." Lorrie continues, "Larry was passionate about skiing. A day on the slopes with his kids and grandkids...That was his happy place." Preceded in death by his parents, Larry is survived by his wife, Lorrie Reeves (Broomfield, CO), his sons, Sean Reeves (spouse, Sara, both of Carmel, IN) and Preston Reeves (Kayla, Broomfield), and his daughters, Trisha Rethinger (Jon, Thornton, CO), Natalie Truman (Jesse, Broomfield), and Malea Hutt (Clark, Arvada, CO). Larry also shared his love with eight grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, January 13th, 2024, 1:00PM, at Coors Field Right Field Club. In the memo, emphasize that your donation goes to SHIFT). Larry Reeves was a great man gone too soon, but he leaves a legacy of love, faith, and compassion. Of adventure and devotion, of family and friends. He will be missed dearly. The Reeves, Rethinger, Truman, and Hutt Families all thank you for your kind remembrances and heartfelt prayers in this time of overwhelming grief.
