I met Joe last spring at the Jurek Post breakfast. Being born 1951 I grew up at a time the WW2 vets were our heroes. Joe was the most amazing person I ever met a true unsung hero of all. He spent most of his war time on the front lines in Germany and France, serving his country. At the battle of the bulge he told me he felt so lucky as only 25 of 250 made it back. As I saw him at the breakfast again and at the Hospital last week I learned more from him and was thoroughly humbled to the core knowing this was the man that gave me freedom. Now a week after my last visit God has taken him from us. I only say this man showed the most amazing strength and humility I ever knew and I fully plan to see him again after this brief life is over. May Jesus guide him home to his wife and eternal loved ones.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. I so fondly remember our family's many visits to Buffalo to visit Grandma Ann & Grandpa Lou; each including a visit with Ida & Joe...it was like having an extra set of grandparents. Joe was such a kind, gentle, thoughtful man. My favorite memory has always been of him coaxing me onto the dance floor for a polka at Pam's wedding. So sorry for your loss...he's no doubt in heaven with his arm around Ida's shoulders, smiling down on all of you.

When we think of Joe, we remember a thoughtful, gentle soul. A loving husband - a loving father - always ready with a kind word. A great man has left us. May he rest in peace.
