Paul Brady Obituary

Paul Sullivan Brady was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 24, 1947 to Raymond Milton Brady and Helen Ross Simpson Brady. The Brady family settled in the Carrizo Springs area in 1913. Paul grew up in neighboring Crystal City with his three brothers. He began working at a very young age for numerous local farmers and ranchers.

He was active in school activities at Crystal City High school where he played football and baseball, and graduated in 1966. After attending Southwest Texas Junior College and Texas A&M University, he moved back to Carrizo Springs and began working for Tesoro Refining Company. He also operated family rangeland with cattle and was recognized for excellence in grazing management by the Society for Range Management. Paul was an entrepreneur and also established his own water well service company.

In 1986, Paul and his family moved to Lake Buchanan and the City of Burnet hired him as the Chief Operator for the new Inks Lake Surface Water Treatment Plant, which he managed for ten years. Paul was a Cassie Volunteer Firefighter and also served as Fire Chief for a time.

After both his daughters graduated from Burnet high school, Paul became part owner of Water Utility Chemicals in Caldwell, TX. For over twenty years, he traveled across the state of Texas designing, installing and maintaining water treatment plants for numerous communities.

Paul was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed American and Texas history. His other hobbies included building, welding, photography, travel, and family genealogy. He loved to tinker and could fix almost anything. He was known for attending everything he was ever invited to, no matter how far away. He especially cherished the annual Brady Family Fourth of July and Thanksgiving gatherings he hosted.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Timothy Martin Brady and his sister, Laura Kathleen Brady, and his nephew, Steven Paul Brady. Paul is survived by his beloved companion, Melinda Kilian of Austin; daughter Gail Brady Moncla of Beaumont; daughter Cheryl Lynn Schneider and son-in-law Jeremy of Lake Whitney; grandchildren Kaily Moncla, Luke Moncla, Reed Schneider and Claire Schneider; brother Raymond Milton Brady and wife Carmel; brother Hilary Hubert (Bert) Brady and wife Peggy; niece Stephanie Brady Pittman and husband Jason; nephew Jordan Brady and niece Holly Petrowicz, along with his grand-nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank New Century Hospice and Right At Home Caregivers of Marble Falls for their excellent care.

His funeral service will be Monday, November 14, 2022 at 2:00 pm, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 PM at Leonard Funeral Home, 707 West Houston St, Carrizo Springs, TX 78834 and burial at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Dimmit County Public Library, 200 North 9th Street, Carrizo Springs, TX or the Cassie Volunteer Fire Department/Burnet County ESD #2, P.O. Box 184, Buchanan Dam, TX 78609.

Paul was one of the best partners a man could have ever had. We work together for over 20 years. His due diligence was more than anybody could ever expect. I loved him like a brother and I will miss him as much as one too. I'm so sorry he has left this Earth. I will see you in the afterlife my brother.
