Edward Fredette Obituary

Edward (Fred) Fredette

Corpus Christi, TX

Edward Timothy (Fred) Fredette passed away with family at his side on January 10, 2019 in Bradenton, Florida. Known as "Eddie" until nicknamed "Fred" while in the United States Air Force, he grew up in Athol, Massachusetts, the son of the late Edmond and Lauza Fredette. After graduating from Athol High School in 1959, he served four years in the United States Air Force as a Radar Maintenance Instructor. After living in Singapore for ten years as a contractor with oil companies, he worked for FMC Technologies for twenty as a Senior Field Service Engineer installing pipeline metering systems throughout the world. Having made friends everywhere, he will be much missed by many people in many places.

Fred retired in Corpus Christi, Texas and was very active in the American Legion. A lifelong New York Football Giants and Boston Red Sox fan, he loved to drive his New York Giants blue Corvette. Fred would complete the 1250 miles to family in Phoenix, Arizona or Tampa, Florida in under 18 hours and thought nothing of getting to Fenway or relatives in New Brunswick, Canada in just a few days. Destination driven, it was tough riding with him and be a sight seeker

Fred is survived by his brother and sister-in-law John and Gerri Fredette in Sarasota, Florida; by his nephew and his wife Troy and Rini Fredette in Tampa, his niece and her husband Danielle Fredette Frie and Paul Frie in Surprise, Arizona and a grand-nephew Tiernan and grand-niece Vailynne.

To honor his request and recognize his wide circle of friends, Celebrations of Life are being held in Tampa and Corpus Christi.

In lieu of flowers, please consider mailing donations in Fred's name to either American Legion Post 364 where Fred spend many days or to the Moffitt Cancer Center where he was a patient

Ed was tireless when it came to helping others, shared his knowlege liberally to all, and I fel a void learing of his passing... I considered him a friend, though we never met, he sorely missed already

Freddie, as I called him, was one of the greatest guys on the planet. Fred worked for me at FMC Technologies for many years in Field Service. He'd talk my ear off when I sent him to some of the less desirable locations on the planet but he never complained, he'd just get the job done. He was also a great friend outside of work and him as a Giants fan (with a dark Blue Corvette) and me as a Cowboys fan (with a Silver Corvette)...I'll just say we talked some good smack to each other. Freddie will be dearly missed by me and all of his coworkers at Smith Systems/FMC Technologies. Rest in Peace Freddie

Fred was my neighbor on Wales Drive for many years. He was a kind person and he will be dearly missed. We are confident that he is looking down on us from heaven.
