I am so sorry to hear about Gary. I only now learned of his passing. We traded skeds for many years and I visited in his home in 1991. He was more than a trader as we were also friends who saw the world the same. All of my sympathy to the Ruby family.

Met Gary in the mid-1970's. He took me to my first baseball card show in 1976. It was held at a school in Newcomerstown, Ohio. We also went to a bigger card show at Randall Park Mall the next year in 1977. I happened to see Walt (Clyde) Frazier just walking around the mall doing some shopping. When I told Gary about it, he got excited. We made a beeline back to where Walt was and both got autographs. Also at this show, Gary found a fellow who was selling 1950's and 1960's baseball cards for a nickle or a dime, depending on the player. Gary had me help him dig thru the stacks and pull out the Indians and any other big name players I saw. He bought about 600 cards at that table. He was very happy! He gave me five 1957 Topps cards for helping. Mantle, Clemente, Mays, Aaron, and Colavito. He told me that Rocky was the best player in the bunch and not to trade that card away!

Gary was a great mentor to me in my early days of card collecting. He taught me a lot about the hobby and I have great memories of those days. He will be missed.

My condolences to Carol and to his entire family.
