VanHorn
Lydia "Lou" VanHorn, 74, of Malvern, passed away Thursday, August 28th, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Lou was born in New Harrisburg, Ohio on August 31, 1933, the daughter of Raymond Shields and Sylvia (Miller) Kast. She was a stock clerk at Fisher's Big Wheel for 21 years, a COAD Foster Grandparent at Carroll Hills for 11 years, an avid bowler, an ardent Steeler Fan, and she loved camping. Lou is survived by her husband Hubert VanHorn; two daughters, Cheryl (Bob) Clark of Minerva , Lisa Bitzel of Hartville; a son, Bradford VanHorn of Minerva; 9 grandchildren 1 great grandchild; a sister, Estelle Hayes of Sarasota, FL and two brothers, Wilbur Shields of Montgomery, AL., Fred Shields of Minerva. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Alice Reymond. Funeral Services will be held at the Bartley Funeral Home, at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 with Rev. Susan Lausch officiating. Calling hours will be held Tuesday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM. at the Bartley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery . Lydia had retired off of our program prior to my joining the COAD Foster Grandparent Program. I had heard many nice things about her and am sure she will be missed by many of our volunteers and staff of her old site station. You have the deepest sympathy of all of the volunteers and staff of COAD at this time of your loss.
