John Rorer Obituary
John Alexander Rorer Jr. passed peacefully in his Edgewater home on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at the age of 87. The son of a University of Virginia professor, he was born in Norfolk, Virginia on March 25, 1927. Mr. Rorer graduated from the University of Virginia in 1951 and spent the majority of his adult life in Charlottesville. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army Air Corps, Mr. Rorer rose to become Associate Director of the University of Virginia Hospital. Mr. Rorer was recognized wherever he went as a loyal Wahoo and a true southern gentleman. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Barbara Kennedy Rorer. He will be truly missed by his sons, John Alexander Rorer III, Richard Clark Rorer, Irvin Norris Blake III, and his daughter, Kathryn Blake Stadlin. Mr. Rorer had seven grandchildren of which he was very proud.
