Carroll Roop

John Carroll Roop, 94, of Taneytown, MD died peacefully on Saturday, February 03, 2018 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born November 29, 1923 in Linwood, he was the son of the late John Daniel and Edith Elizabeth (Pfoutz) Roop. He was proceeded in death by two wives, the late Blanche Gauby (Ditmars) Roop and Freda (Frock) Roop. Carroll was a farmer and construction worker. He attended Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren with his first wife, Blanche and his children. In his later years he attended Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown. Surviving are his seven children, Sam Roop and wife Esther of PA, Faith Ginn and husband Jim of WV, Mary Roop of OK, Irvin Roop and wife Gail of Union Bridge, Sidney Roop of Westminster, Calvin Roop and wife Lois of PA, and Iris Roop of Taneytown; sister, Elizabeth Crout of OH; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Roger Pfoutz Roop and a sister, Louise Knight. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren, 26 N. Pipe Creek Rd., Union Bridge, MD 21791 with the Rev. Calvin Roop and the Rev. Steven Ostendorf officiating. Burial will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carroll's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
