Edwin William Shauck

1926 - 2018

Edwin William Shauck, 92, life-long resident of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Carroll Hospital Center. Born on January 10, 1926 in Westminster, MD, he was the son of the late Herman W. and Reda C. (Gibson) Shauck. He was the husband of the late Mary Jane Shauck. Mr. Shauck was a graduate of Westminster High School class of 1943, graduated from the Baltimore Business College, and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He retired from a life-long career spent in the banking industry where he retired as Executive Vice-President of Carroll County Bank. He was very generous with his time and philanthropic resources in the greater Westminster community, especially with the Carroll Hospital Center, McDaniel College, and Westminster United Methodist Church. The auditorium at Carroll Hospital Center was named in his honor. He was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and helped on the finance committee. He was also a member of the Westminster Kiwanis Club (past-president), Elks Club #2277 of Westminster, and member of the Board of Directors for Carroll County Bank and Trust and Carroll Hospital Center. He was passionate about the Arts in Carroll County and a supporter of the Carroll Arts Center. He was an accomplished pianist and played piano for many special events including anniversaries and events held at the Antrim 1844 Inn in Taneytown. He held his pilots license and flew a bi-plane out of Carroll County Airport, was an avid golfer, and Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan. Surviving are daughter, Mary "Cathy" Catherine McCloskey and husband Charles of Ocean View, Delaware; granddaughter, Tracy Marie Welch of Westminster; and great-granddaughter, Teal M Shauck and fiancée Jeremy Charles Sexton of Baltimore; brother-in-law, Dr. Harry A. Menser of Sand Point, Idaho; and sister-in-law, Edie Menser of Wilmington, DE. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster. Burial will follow in Westminster Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday February 15th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
