John Masci Obituary

John Joseph Masci, 92, a much loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor and friend passed into the presence of the Lord on January 3, 2015 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. He was a resident of Brightview Westminster Ridge in Westminster, MD. Though he will be dearly missed, all who had the privilege of knowing him have been richly blessed by his life and legacy. Born February 1, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA, he was preceded in death by his parents, Giuseppe and Philomena (Angelucci) Masci, and by his two sisters, Yolanda and Connie, and a brother, Wilbur. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Angela, whom he married January 12, 1946. Their almost 69 years together were filled with immeasurable joy, love, and caring for each other. John was an amazingly organized and compassionate person ¿ devoted to family, a singer, speaker, Christmas card poet, and writer of heartfelt, personal sentiments... someone fully engaged in life. He was always conversing and interacting, giving and sharing. John smiled easily, laughed freely, joked readily and danced gracefully. In fact, he and Angela quickly became known as "the dancers" at Westminster Ridge. Always gracious hosts, John & Angela invited many friends, neighbors, coworkers and acquaintances into their home for wonderful meals and laughs. He kept in contact with people he had met throughout his life. Born in Philadelphia to immigrant parents, John graduated from high school, proudly served in the Army during WWII in the European Theater, earning a Bronze Star for heroism. He then attended Traffic School and enjoyed a long, successful career as a Traffic Manager for the Ford Motor Company. He was an avid golfer, loved wintering in Boynton Beach, FL and loved daily walks and traveling with his wife. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and sons-in-law Dolores and Paul Llanso of Asheville, NC and Nancy and Todd DeCrispino of Eldersburg, MD; grandchildren Sari Weston of Davidson, NC, Katrina (Will) Layman of Huntersville, NC, Julie (Rodney) Ibrahim of Westfield, NJ and Jillian (Seth) Willingham of Mt. Airy, MD; 7 great grandchildren (Sabrina, Jack, Bryce, Blake, Cole, Miles and Layla), and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 12 from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at 11:00 a.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster with Chaplain Ann Schlossnagle, officiating. Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, it is the wish of the family that memorial donations be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 or www.CarrollHospice.org.
