Stanley Janicki Obituary

Stanley Frank Janicki, Jr., age 72, of Sykesville, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 19, 2024. Born November 12, 1951 in Sewickley, PA, he was the son of the late Stanley Frank, Sr. and Jane (Pruszenski) Janicki. He was the beloved husband of 35 years to Judith Dianne Janicki. Stanley was a long-time fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jeopardy, Police Station Pizza, and Dunkin' Donuts coffee. He was an avid musician throughout his life-finding persistent joy in singing and playing the piano and accordion. After retiring from Verizon in 2003, he shared his musical gifts at dozens of nursing homes and assisted living facilities and brought a smile to so many faces. If only they knew the smile they brought to his as well. He was such a light in this world, especially to his family, who were truly his pride and joy. His Catholic faith was the center of his world, and he would often be heard proclaiming, "Jesus, I trust in you! Nothing else matters!" Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and sons-in-law, Renée Lynn Wiley and Walter Lee Greenhowe, Jr.; Amy Lee and Kyle Ambrose; and Shelby Dianne and Conner O'Brien; siblings, Jerome (Elizabeth), Lawrence; Jane (Leonard) DeLisio; Kenneth (Cynthia), Roger (Deborah); Judith Glenn; Joseph (Nora); Charles (Theresa); grandchildren, Emily, Lincoln, Walter Lee III (Renée); Winnie (Amy) and many other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Thomas and sister-in-law Ruth Ann Janicki, his grandchildren Jordan Michael and Jacqueline Renée Nepus, and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM and Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 10 AM to 12 PM, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Sykesville, with a luncheon following the Mass. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please contact your local Catholic Church and have a Mass said for the peaceful repose of the soul of Stanley Frank Janicki, Jr. (the Church will understand and inform you if there is a suggested donation). Stan has made a difference in so many of our lives. I´m grateful for the time we had listening to him singing while playing the piano and accordion at our Assisted Living. What an amazing person and what a remarkable life. I feel so lucky that Stan was a part of our lives.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I only met Stan and his accordion one time and I'm sure there is a Polka party in heaven today.
