William Boyd Obituary

William Walter Boyd Sr., 83, of Randallstown, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Seasons Hospice in Randallstown, after a brief illness.

Born Sept. 16, 1928, in Harrisonville, he was the son of the late Austin Carter Boyd and the late Eva Cecilia Triplett Boyd. He was the husband of E. Yvonne Green Boyd, his wife of 45 years.

He was a retired Howard County 911 supervisor/dispatcher. He had worked from the 1960s, until it's closing, at Loring Byers Funeral Directors, and most recently at Central Care for Service Corporation International that serves numerous funeral homes in the area. He also worked for Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory from 1992 until present.

He was 60-year member of Freedom Lodge No. 112 A.F. & A.M. in Eldersburg and was a member of Boumi Temple. He was a life member and past president of Liberty Road volunteer fire company, and served on numerous committees including EMS Committee of the Maryland State Fireman's Association. He was a life member of Wards Chapel United Methodist Chapel and longtime financial secretary. He was an avid Baltimore Oriole fan and season ticket holder.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, William W. Boyd Jr., of Randallstown; a daughter, Kimberly D. Boyd, of Westminster; step-children Vicki L. and Mark C. Jones; and grandchildren Rachel, Jennifer, Bobbie, Brittany, Nicholas, and Taylor.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, where a Masonic memorial service will be held during the evening viewing.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Wards Chapel United Methodist Church, 11023 Liberty Road, Randallstown. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Wards Chapel UMC, 11023 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD 21133; or to Liberty Road Volunteer Fire Company, 10010 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD 21133.

Family, I'm saddend for your loss. Mr. Walter was a dear man who cared for his family and community very much. I'm honored to have met him as a young man @ the fire company many years ago. I only wish I was near to be with you in this time of sorrow. We have all lost a dear friend.
