William E "Bill" Gill, Sr.

Bellefonte, Pennsylvania - William Edwin Gill, Sr., 87, of Bellefonte, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 27, 2022. He was born on October 5, 1934, in Spruce Creek, a son of the late Paul and Alta (Graffius) Gill. On November 2, 1956, he married Marjorie Bowser, who preceded him in death on January 13, 2020.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Perryman (Gary), Theresa Carmack (Larry), Brenda Doherty (Richard), and Alta Cloer (Fielding); his son, William Gill, Jr (Karen); many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; his sister, Margaret McCarthy; and his brother, Paul Gill. He was preceded in death by his wife; grandson, Bobby Gill; his parents; his brothers, Robert Gill and Kenneth Gill; and his sister Elizabeth Casner.
After graduating high school in 1952, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and proudly served his country from January 1953 to January 1956. After basic training, he joined the 3rd Marine Division and was stationed at Camp Nara, Japan. On the voyage home, a young sailor introduced him to Jesus Christ, assuredly, the best decision he ever made. It assured his entrance in heaven for all eternity. After his discharge, he began a 52-year career as an over the road truck driver, mainly as an owner-operator for Gensimore Trucking, of Pleasant Gap. His greatest pleasure in life was to tell those he worked with and met, about what Jesus had done for him, and that He would do the same for them, if they put their trust in Him. He was a member of Calvary Bible Church, of Centre Hall, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, bus driver, and sang special music.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, from 10am-11am, at the Calvary Bible Church in Centre Hall. A funeral service will follow at 11am with Pastor Rick Gilbaugh officiating. Bill will be laid to rest privately beside his wife at the Seven Stars Cemetery, Huntingdon County.
