John Hicks Obituary

John Hampton Hicks, Jr., 82, of Charlotte, NC, died February 21, 2002 at Presbyterian Hospital.
Mr. Hicks was born January 19, 1920 in Pickens, South Carolina, a son of the late John Hampton Hicks, Sr. and Ruby Mae Gillespie Hicks. He was a driver all of his life and retired in 1982 with C.W. Transport.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hicks will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2002 from McEwen Pineville Chapel with The Reverend Dr. Dan Griffin, Senior Minister of Flint Hill Baptist Church, officiating. The family will greet friends Saturday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the McEwen Pineville Chapel. Burial will follow in Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hicks is survived by his two children, Larry Joe Hicks and his wife, Glenda of Indian Trail, NC, Teena Strube and her husband, John of Burbank, CA; three grandchildren, Melanie Bass of Indian Trail, Greg Hicks of Ft. Huron, MI, and Patrick Strube of Burbank, CA; five great-grandsons, Lane, Luke and Ben Bass and Jackson and Troy Hicks; one brother, Cecil Hicks of Columbia, SC; and one sister, Ruby Carlisi of Winterhaven, FL.
Memorials may be made in remembrance of Mr. John Hampton Hicks, Jr. to Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, or The American Cancer Society, 500 East Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
