Marsha Lurie Obituary
March 12, 1945 - August 22, 2022
Black Mountain, North Carolina - Marsha Dianne Whisnant Lurie, 77 of Asheville, passed away Monday, August 22, 2022. She was born March 12, 1945 in Rutherford County. Dianne is predeceased in death by her father, Marshall White and parents, C.W. "Buck" and Wynelle Greene Whisnant.
Dianne graduated from Chase High School in Forest City and Kings Business College in Charlotte. She was married to David Steven Lurie for 51 years. They resided in Charlotte for many years. Dianne was a member and officer of the Republican Women's Club of Asheville. She brought joy to her life by spending time with her grandsons, attending ballgames and their extracurricular activities. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Dianne spent her career as a professional business office administrator and most recently in the health care insurance industry. Wanting to be close to their children and grandchildren, Dianne and David retired to Asheville, NC in 2014. Dianne's love and pride in her sons, grandsons and her immediate family were her life's purpose.
In addition to her parents, Dianne is preceded in death by her husband, David Steven Lurie and brother, Kim Whisnant.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Adam Lurie and Jay Marshall Lurie (Brittney); grandsons, Aiden and Wilkin; sister-n-law, Rozanne Sklar, sisters Pam Whisnant Harrill (Tony), Tracy Whisnant Davis (Steve); sister-in-law, Teri Whisnant. She is also survived by nieces, Cammie Key (Matt), Lauren Whisnant and Rebecca Whisnant and nephews, Tyler Harrill and Paul Davis.
A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park,392, Tabernacle Rd., Black Mountain, NC 28711 at 2pm on Sunday August 28th. Funeral Services officiated by Dr. Buddy Corbin, retired pastor and chaplain
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Council on Aging of Buncombe County (https://www.coabc.org/planned-giving/).

We are happy and fortunate to have known and worked with Dianne in the insurance business. She was diligent in business, committed to her family, and supportive of her community organizations. We will miss her more than words can express. She was a lovely person.
